The Somerset Sausage Company was born out of its sister company J.P.Baker & Sons Ltd. We are a small family run butchers in the heart of the Somerset Levels. The Somerset Levels have long been renowned for their lush vegetation, from which is produced some of the finest beef, lamb and pork in the country.
The Family have had ties across both the agricultural and butchery worlds going back over a number of generations. We farm our own rare breed pork "Gloucester Old spot", which we rear on rolled barley and cider apples from our own orchard. Giving us a truely wonderful flavour pork. The rest of our meat is all sourced from farms on the Somerset levels.
We stock an extensive range of produce at our shop in Wedmore, but our true passion is sausages. We have made sausages for weddings, barbecues, beer festivals and have even made a bright red sausage for comic relief. Although we have an extensive range of both traditional and not so traditional recipes, we also encourage customers to invent their own sausage which we will happily produce for you perhaps for a special occasion. The only limit is your imagination.
We are very fortunate to have staff that are equally passionate about what they do, ensuring a hand made local product that is produced to the highest standard time and time again. In recognition of these high standards we are proud to have been awarded Somerset County Councils 5 star award for food safety and hygiene.
So whether you enjoy your sausages for breakfast on a Sunday morning, for dinner one night in the week, for a barbecue at the weekend or for your wedding banquet, we hope you will enjoy our sausages as much as we do.
All sausages and burgers are freshly made when your order is placed, packed with ice into polystyrene boxes and dispatched by arrangement to your home or office.
